I got email from the ThinkGeek Overlords today. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, their website has a section devoted to “Geek Love”. Fun stuff. Check it out.

Heart-spotting Contest Entry

From fellow Vancouver Islander Tony B.:

Here is a shot of a very old heart on a large log at Stephenson Point in Nanaimo.

I, for one, wonder if AS + SF are still an item…

Heart-spotting Contest Entry

From Sarah L.:

I found a fun ‘heart-shaped’ website. Add your text and pick your shape. I chose the heart-shaped ‘Valentine’, of course. The text I added is from a famous Christopher Marlowe poem, “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love.”

(Editor’s PS: Stay away from the “Image Converter” box with the big green ‘Download’ button. It’s a banner ad trying to trick you into clicking.)

Last weekend I went to a barbecue in Sooke, BC, to celebrate my nephew Benjamin’s 16th birthday. His actual birthday is August 15.

Then this morning, as I was trying to come up with an intriguing topic for a heart-related blog post, I decided to figure out the “halfway” date between Valentine’s Days. Between one February 14 and the next, the exact halfway point is August 15.

Now for the freaky part. Take a look at the cake a family friend bought for Ben (and his stepbrother Olivier, whose birthday is earlier in August). If you look really carefully, you may see two hearts made with shimmery red icing.

Something so fantastically coincidental could only happen in a Heart-shaped World!

A hearty cake for Ben's birthday on August 15, which, coincidentally, is exactly halfway from one Valentine's Day to the next!
