“To me blew me away” is Google Translate’s take on “넌 내게 반했어” – the title of a South Korean youth melodrama called (in English) Heartstrings. (The correct translation of 넌 내게 반했어 is actually “You’ve Fallen for Me.”)

Wikipedia’s entry for this TV series topped the list when I Google-searched “heartstrings” yesterday.

After you admire the heart in the stylized title, click the image to see the music video for “Because I Miss You” by Jung Yong Hwa – vocalist and guitarist of a band called The Stupid and lead actor in the series, where he plays a university student majoring in Western Music.

The deer-in-the-headlights kiss at 2:00 of the video is priceless!

Heart-spotting Contest Entry

Hearts and bikes…my two obsessions! Thanks to Ingrid L. for this one:

I came across this photo last week in a store and knew it needed to be hanging in my family room! It now is, and it makes me smile every time I walk past. The title is “Love Bike” and I love it! It would be perfect for you as well, Mr. Cyclist.

Heart-spotting Contest Entry

Sarah L. is a heart-spotter from way back when. Well, a few months ago, anyway:

Seeing Ingrid L.’s submission of holiday hearts on sale at Calgary’s Rubaiyat Gallery reminded me of these very similar sparkly hearts that were for sale at Heritage Park last summer (also in Calgary). While on holiday there, I spent a long time looking at these trying to decide if I needed more ‘stuff’. I passed on them but took this photo instead.

Yikes! As I was making the draw* for November’s Heart-spotting Contest winner, it occurred to me that I fully forgot about the draw for October. So, I have two winners to congratulate today…

With four entries in October alone, Sylvia W. (now a two-time winner) affirms the fact that the more obsessive the heart-spotter, the greater her chances of winning. Her winning entry, titled “Dogs Need Love Too”, was drawn from among the 12 entries published in October.

Tony B.‘s “Cidery Hearts” was drawn from the 12 great submissions published in November.

The winning entries are posted below…

“Our rescue greyhounds were gifted these delectable treats, and we were rather surprised to see they were made with love. Real love. In the shape of wheat-free, no-extra-preservatives-added hearts.” – Sylvia W.

There are hearts galore in this submission from Tony B. (look closely at the outer edges of the painting). He spotted this Portuguese pottery style painting in Vancouver Island’s Merridale Estate Cidery.

Release the mounds…and shake your euphemism!

A surprising number of people arrive at My Heart-Shaped World when they search for the lyrics to Blue Man Group‘s “Shake Your Euphemism” – and they find this September post celebrating the heart-shaped “jiggle twins” in Blue Man Group’s stage graphics (see photo below).

I certainly don’t want to disappoint those who come seeking lyrics, so I’ve posted them below the photo. (Note that there are different versions of “Shake Your Euphemism.” The lyrics below align with the performance that starts at 1:02 in this YouTube video.)

Blue Man Group’s “Shake Your Euphemism” Lyrics

It is time now to create the ultimate dance party.
To take things over the top, you need to start shaking your rear end.
Or as some people call it…

Your hindquarters
Your backside
Your buttocks
Your heiny

Your keister
Your tush
Your buns
Your gluteus tote-bag

Your bubble pop
Your medicine ball
Your sonic boom
Your sit-biscuit

Your posterior
Your subwoofer
Your horn section
Your monster truck

Your mag wheels
Your life’s work
The Outback
Your cousin’s apartment

Ladies and gentlemen, please stand up and
RELEASE THE MOUNDS

It’s time to shake that freckle-muffin
The place where all burritos go
It’s time to bake that turkey stuffin’
Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Dance to the beat that the DJ cuts
There’s no “if”s or “and”s

JUST BUTTS.

Let’s get it going, keep it going – don’t stop
Let’s get it going, keep it going – don’t stop
Let’s get it going, keep it going – don’t stop

Use your bum to stir that soup
And shake it all around like the
Blue Man Group!

Shake it ’til you bake it
Shake it ’til you wake it
Shake it ’til you make it
Shake it, shake it, shake it!

Your dance catcher
Under the thunder
Gigantor
The stabilizer

Shake your carry-on luggage
The Bobbsey Twins
Your growing personal following

Shake your boomwhacker
Your reporter at large
Or in this case, very large

Shake the flounder
That’s rounder
Than a giant quarter pounder

Shake it, shake it, shake it!

SHAKE SHAKE
SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE

THAT THING

Did Taylor Swift really invent the “hand heart” gesture?

Mario Yamasaki isn’t the only famous figure broadly known for flashing “hand heart” gestures at the TV cameras. The likes of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Janet Jackson are all well known hand-hearters. But it was pop music cutie Taylor Swift who popularized the practice, and she even claims credit for inventing it. (Read all about it at jezebel.com.)

So…who’s your favorite hand-heart flasher? (Or, as the case may be, your least favorite?)
Devoted practitioners of the ubiquitous "hand heart" gesture: Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Usher, Beyoncé, Selena Gomez and Selena's squeeze, The Biebs.

Nine-year-old Emmaleigh has a heart. In fact, she has lots of them. And she’s selling them to support Inn from the Cold –  a Calgary organization that provides emergency shelter, support and programs to homeless children, their families and others in need.

For a donation to her “Have a Heart” campaign, you can purchase one of Emma’s beautiful heart paintings. She plans to donate all of the proceeds to Inn from the Cold. You can view her collection of masterpieces here.
